Suburban Hockey was a long standing tradition in Waverley with its team, the Waverley Gold Diggers, first taking the ice in 1930. They skated through World War II and continued through until 1999. Generations of hockey players bore the Gold Diggers’ crest and the club has become a deeply ingrained feature of the local collective memory.
The Waverley Heritage Society worked in collaboration with the community to produce the Waverley Gold Diggers Hockey Team DVD. The video chronicles the history of the Gold Diggers Hockey Teams spanning 69 years, 1930-1999 using interviews and photos to tell their stories.
